Local filmmakers Steve Pallotta and Gary Kiser will debut their latest
film, Lake Evermore, on Sunday at Barberton's West Theatre, 1017
Wooster Road.
It's the story of a couple who inherits a cottage in Lake Evermore, a
sleepy little community. When the pair gets the idea of developing part of
the land for condominiums, the town's population gives them resistance.
The story began as part of an earlier film that Pallotta and Kiser
collaborated on, Forbidden Closet. When Closet, an anthology
movie, debuted last year, Evermore was its anchor, said Pallotta, 45.
It received raves from those who saw it, so Pallotta decided to expand it.
``Hopefully, it will be something to build up credibility so people will
take me seriously,'' he said.
The movie, which Pallotta calls more of an artistic endeavor, will have a
limited run at the West, but he plans for it to serve as a steppingstone to
bigger things.
He plans for his next movie, a comedy called Circle Track Summer,
to be more of a launching pad for a commercial filmmaking career. He's
looking to get it aired on a cable network and eventually release it to the
home video market.
Surprisingly, should he enjoy success, he doesn't plan to leave
town.``The one good thing about being in Akron, there's a lot of talent,''
he said.
Lake Evermore will be shown at 1 and 6 p.m. Sunday. There will
also be showings Monday through Wednesday. Tickets are $5 and are available
at the theater; Tom & Gordy's Best Burgers, 560 W. Tuscarawas Ave.,
Barberton; and Copley Greens Golf, 2266 Jacoby Road, Copley Township; or by
calling Fool's Gold Entertainment, 330-836-2864.
