Forget Brad Pitt, local audiences
opt for 'Lake Evermore'

Movie buffs bypassed "Troy," the latest Hollywood blockbuster, for the locally produced film "Lake Evermore," which premiered at Barberton's West Theatre Sunday.

BARBERTON -- Movie premieres are common in New York and Los Angeles, but not so common in Barberton.

Nonetheless, the West Theatre in Barberton was the place to be Sunday to cheer on local actors and filmmakers.

Copley resident Steve Pallotta's "Lake Evermore" premiered to large crowds at 1 and 6 p.m. The movie, written by Pallotta and Gary Kiser, pays homage to the eerie Alfred Hitchcock movies and Rod Serling TV shows that Pallotta loved as a child.

Directed by Pallotta, the film follows Mike and Evelyn Turner as they travel to a lake cottage they have recently inherited. The town of Lake Evermore is friendly and quaint, but it looks as if time stands still there. Business-minded Mike soon learns that it may not be a good idea to develop condominiums around the lake as, sometimes, it is best to leave things the way they are.

This is the first full-length feature movie produced by Pallotta's company, Fool's Gold Entertainment, which is focused on using local talent to produce quality entertainment on a shoestring budget, said Pallotta.

At the premiere, Pallotta announced that his next film will be "Circle Track Summer." Principal photography will begin on the comedy in June at the Barberton Speedway.
